About Toysilla Wooden Doll House
Toysilla originally operated as a third-party wooden toy manufacturer before deciding to establish its own brand. The company had already developed several products, but the designs did not fully meet its expectations. This is how our collaboration began.
For the T2011 and T2013 wooden doll houses, Toysilla already had the CNC cutting files and basic construction. I redesigned the visual character of the product by creating new illustrations and making small improvements to the existing design.
Design/Components
The existing wooden construction and CNC cutting files were retained, while the visual identity of the doll house was completely renewed. The original design used strong and highly saturated colours, so I introduced a softer pastel palette to create a calmer and more contemporary appearance.
As watercolour is one of my main illustration techniques, I incorporated hand painted textures and watercolour effects throughout the artwork. Each room was designed with its own atmosphere, furniture details and decorative elements, while maintaining a consistent visual language across the entire house. All illustrations were prepared as print ready files and adapted precisely to the existing wooden components.
Mass Product
Following the design approval, all illustrations were adapted to the existing CNC dielines and prepared as print ready files for mass production. Particular attention was given to colour consistency, accurate positioning and the relationship between the printed graphics and wooden components.
The T2011 and T2013 doll house successfully entered production and became the beginning of a long term collaboration with Toysilla. We later renewed many products across the brand’s collection, and the completed designs were presented at the Nuremberg International Toy Fair (Spielwarenmesse).
